ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain said on Tuesday that the government was keen on maintaining fraternal relations and peace among followers of all schools of thought and the role of religious scholars was crucial in this respect.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, led by Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, which called on him at Aiwan-i-Sadr.

The president said tolerance and mutual respect among various schools of thought would ensure peace and prosperity and all should strive for promotion of religious harmony.

He praised the contribution of the Bohra community in boosting trade activities and commended their services in the education, health and social welfare sectors.

He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a flagship project, which on completion would usher in prosperity in the whole region and by 2018 the country would get rid of loadshedding.

Dr Saifuddin appreciated the progress and said he held Pakistan and its people close to his heart.

The president also hosted a lunch in his honour which was attended by Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and notables of the Bohra community.
