Rail passengers to enjoy free WiFi

ISLAMABAD: As a part of its plan to provide more facilities to the passengers, the Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to provide free WiFi service in all its divisional stations and trains.

“Passengers will shortly be able to use free internet services via WiFi while travelling with the Pakistan Railways,” sources in the Ministry of Railways told this news agency.

They said after the introduction of online ticket booking, the department was launching the new facility to make the railway travel easier on the directives of Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

The facility will be available at major railway stations throughout the country and in all the passenger trains.

In this regard, the railway minister has also established a committee under the chairmanship of the director general information technology and asked him to design a framework for the free WiFi project.

The sources said these steps would improve the status of Pakistan Railways and make train journey more pleasant and safer for the passengers.
