KOHAT: The Hangu police training college, after a gap of over a decade, held its annual passing out parade of 313 fresh cadets on Saturday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Muzafar Said was the chief guest. On the occasion, he said soon a new school of investigation, a new forensic science laboratory, new courses and high-tech teaching facilities would be added to the training college.

He said it was a great pleasure to see that the college had resumed its operations after a long period. The minister said that KP police were a role model for the entire country, adding their sacrifices would be remembered forever.

The ceremony was also attended by officials, elders, and students of Hangu public school and college and Overseas Pakistan Foundation School, Hangu.

On the occasion, Dr Fasihuddin, the college commandant, threw light on the various aspects of police training and said a comprehensive plan was being considered by the KP police chief for revival and upgradation of the training college, which was established in 1935.

He said curriculum and syllabi of in-service courses had been recently revised in order to meet the new challenges of serious crimes and terrorism.

Hangu Deputy Commissioner Haji Ihsanullah lauded the role of public, schoolchildren, college students, media representatives and female teachers in joining hands with the college for making the ceremony a success.

The function included skillful demonstrations of martial arts, anti-terrorist squad tactics, target-firing, and hostage release role-play by the trainees which was applauded by the audience.

The passing out parade was a yearly activity till 2005 which could not be observed during the last ten years due to terror incidents in KP. The revival was profoundly welcomed by the trainees, officers and general people of Hangu.
