LAHORE: It was a mixed day for class nine candidates on Saturday as around 50 per cent of them passed the examination.

Education boards declared the results across the Punjab.

Of 246,906 candidates of Lahore board’s class nine examinations, 250,591 appeared and only 125,738 passed, that is 50.93 per cent. It was, however, a girls’ show.

Of them, 63.22 per cent passed in science and 56.48 per cent in humanities groups.

According to the result gazette notification, 70,262 boys (regular) appeared in the science group, of them 36,900 passed, making it 52.52 per cent. Of 53,141 girls (science group), 36,544 passed, setting a 68.77 percentage.

Similarly, of 22,333 boys and 15,270 girls (science group) as private candidates, 6,973 boys (31.22 per cent) and 6,709 girls (43.94 per cent) passed.

In the humanities group (regular), of 17,071 boys, 5,338 passed, which is 31.27 per cent.

Of 29,588 girls of the same category, 17,827 (60.25 per cent) passed. In the private candidates category of the humanities group, of 19,489 boys and 19,752 girls, only 5,406 boys (27.74 per cent) and 10,041 girls (50.84 per cent) passed.

SAHIWAL: Up to 51.43 per cent students passed the examination.

Sahiwal board chairman Dr Anwar Ahmed told reporters that of 71,736 candidates, 36,891 were on the pass chart.

Overall, regular candidates showed better performance in science and humanities groups from their private counterparts.

GUJRANWALA: According to board chairman Prof Muhammad Aslam Shekhu, of 250,833 students, 125,738 passed. This shows the result is 50.93 per cent.

Roll No 129933, of the Federal Science School and College, Wapda Town, scored 504 marks, out of 505, and remained top in Punjab.
