LAHORE: The Lahore High Court chief justice has decided to constitute special benches for hearing cases of Sargodha, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala and Sahiwal divisions.

The decision has been taken as an alternate step to meet the demand of lawyers to establish more benches of the high court in these five divisions.

An officer of the court says the special benches shall not adjourn cases of their respective cause lists without proper hearing. He states that the special benches would be notified next month after the culmination of summer vacation.

A full court comprising all judges of the LHC had rejected the demand for creation of new benches.

Sargodha bar criticises move

SARGODHA: The Divisional Coordination Committee has rejected the setting up of a separate high court bench at the principal seat to adjudicate cases of five regions.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Sargodha DBA Oresident Khudadad Kalayar.

The meeting demanded the setting up of high court benches at their respective divisional headquarters.

The lawyers criticised the move of the Lahore High Court and pledged to continue their strike till the setting up of a high court bench in Sargodha.
