Anurag Kashyap's fight for Udta Punjab was not for nothing, in fact, Indian filmmakers should be thanking their stars he fought relentlessly against the Indian Censorboard.

If you remember, just a few weeks ago, the director fought tooth and nail against the CBFC to release his then upcoming film Udta Punjab, a drug-themed flick, without any cuts or censorship. After a long, grueling battle, he emerged victorious - with the High Court ruling in his favour and asking the CBFC to release the film with only one cut.

His fight proved fruitful not only for him, but now, because of him, the Indian Information and Broadcasting Ministry is making changes to the guidelines for filmmakers.

Basically, there's a lot of paper scratching going on and old rules being chucked into the bin as the govt rehashes the laws, reported India Today.

For starters, words in the guideline that couldn't be used in films are being discarded. Instead, directors are required to follow the free speech guidelines as per the Indian Constitution.

Furthermore, the Examining Committee nor Reviewing Committee can advice deletion, removal, of a dialogue or scene for obtaining a 'U' certificate.

These are just a few of the guidelines that are being put together; kudos to Anurag, the film fraternity definitely owes him.
