QUETTA: Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamir Riaz has underlined the need for close liaison among security forces, tribesman and religious leaders for maintaining peace in the country, especially Balochistan.

Speaking at a gathering in Chaman on Friday, he lauded the efforts of tribal elders and other people for promoting national unity and brotherhood and helping to improve law and order in the province.

Lt Gen Riaz met tribal elders and religious leaders. Members of a peace jirga presented him a traditional turban.

He said, “Pakistan has given us a lot and now it’s the demand of the modern era that we serve Pakistan with the same spirit and enthusiasm”.

Elders representing various tribes in the area said that all tribes living in Balochistan were united and it was their responsibility to point out enemies of the country and terrorists involved in subversive activities and foil their nefarious design against the motherland.
