MANSEHRA: A woman was killed by shots allegedly fired by police in Ichrian area here on Friday.

The woman got hit by bullets when the police opened fire on her fleeing husband during a raid on his house.

According to family of the victim, police raided the house of Munsif, but he attempted to escape, prompting personnel to open fire at him which missed the target and hit his wife. She died instantly. The victim was the mother of two young boys.

According to family, Munsif was wanted to police in a case of 506 CrPc lodged with the Shinkiari police earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the Shinkiari police refuted the allegation saying the woman was killed by the shots fired by the complainant in the FIR who was also accompanying the personnel during the raid.

The police registered case and started further investigations.
