How the Rangers-led operation impacted crime in Sindh in 2016

After a significant drop in crime rate in the wake of the operation, most other crimes have registered an alarming rise.

KARACHI: After a significant drop in crime rate in the wake of Rangers-led operation in the Karachi, the incidents of kidnapping, gang rape and riots have registered an alarming rise not only in Karachi but also in the rest of the province, according to data compiled by police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

Following infographics illustrate the hike in different crimes in Karachi, with the exception of murders, which registered a drop of 186 lives.

The data compares figures from first seven months of this year (January-July) with the same period last year.















Crime in interior Sindh

The situation of crime in the interior of Sindh was not much different, with murders declining by a sizeable number but most other crimes witnessing a sharp rise in the first seven months of the year.
