ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday adjourned till Aug 9 the hearing of a petition seeking disqualification of retired Capt Safdar, son-in-law of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
A full bench of the ECP, headed by Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice Sardar Raza, heard the case and directed the counsel for Capt Safdar to submit a detailed reply on allegations levelled against him by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in its petition.
Advocate Faisal Chaudhry representing petitioner Nawabzada Salahuddin of the PTI said the respondent was not paying any respect to the ECP and was using delaying tactics and ignoring repeated directions of the commission to file a written reply.
