PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday disclosed that the provincial government was set to sign a cluster of schemes with Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) on the 1st of August.

He stated this while chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister Secretariat here. A statement issued after the meeting said that the schemes included construction of three hydropower projects in Chitral having 900MW capacity and one in Balakot having the capacity of producing 400MW electricity; two housing schemes, an oil refinery and a cement industry and some other projects to be initiated in the current fiscal year.

These projects would be undertaken under a joint partnership, and if necessary, the provincial government would make necessary legislation to facilitate the expeditious implementation of these schemes, according to the statement.

At the meeting, the chief minister directed officials concerned to make different packages of schemes as already negotiated with the FWO so that the formal agreement could be concluded for rapid development of the province.
