SRINAGAR: Curfew was re-imposed on Wednesday in parts of India-held Kashmir, including five police station areas of this city, to thwart a protest march to Kulgam district even as mobile services were partially restored in the disputed region rocked by violence since July 8.

The authorities had lifted curfew in Kashmir except Anantnag town on Tuesday following which it was rocked by fresh protests. A 61-year-old man died in a road accident during clashes in the city on Tuesday and 14 others were injured in action by security forces across the disputed region.

“Curfew has been re-imposed in the entire Kulgam district and Anantnag town,” a police official said. He said curfew was also imposed in five police station areas of Srinagar.

Meanwhile, normal life remained paralysed for the 19th consecutive day due to a strike called by leaders opposed to Indian rule.
