LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf central information secretary Naeemul Haq has said the PTI will not oppose the appointment of new Election Commission members.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday, he said the PTI would begin its weekly protest campaign on the Panama Leaks issue with a march from Rawalpindi to Peshawar on Aug 7.

Mr Haq said there were no differences between the PTI and PPP and said each party was independent in taking its decisions.

He said the PML-N government was not serious about probe into the scandal exposed by the Panama Papers.

He said the federal ministers were busy in removing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from the list of accused to be investigated.

Mr Haq said the whole nation wanted that the Panama Leaks should be probed and facts be known to the masses, adding that all parties were united on investigation into the Panama Leaks.

“Nawaz Sharif can answer five questions within 20 minutes, but he is not doing so,” he said and added that Mr Sharif had earlier presented himself for accountability but later backed out.

He said the PTI was playing its role in the Election Reforms Committee and hoped that the modern technology would be used to make elections free and transparent.

In the Azad Kashmir elections, he said, the PTI, PPP and the Muslim Conference bagged 58 per cent votes against the PML-N, while the PML-N could bag 42pc votes.
