KARACHI: The Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has urged the commissioners of regional tax offices (RTOs) to ensure early issuance of ‘exemption certificates’ in the respective tax year 2017.

In a letter to chief commissioner of the RTOs, KTBA President Syed Rehan Hasan Jafry drew his attention towards difficulties faced by the bar members in getting the certificates.

He stated that the department was taking a plea of expected changes in its jurisdictions which come into effect next month.

The KTBA chief pointed out that since new jurisdictions become effective from August 1, not issuing certificates was unreasonable as they are valid up to July 31.
