SIALKOT: Divers of Rescue 1122 on Sunday recovered the body of allegedly an Indian man from River Chenab near Head Marala.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Dr Asif Tufail said some people spotted a body while picnicking. They informed police, which called in Rescue 1122 divers.

He added that according to local police the body was of a 26-year-old Indian man that had reached Head Marala from India due to fast flow of the river. He claimed that though the body was beyond recognition, but it was confirmed that the person was an Indian as some Hindi words were tattooed on his arms and he was wearing a necklace made of tiny idols.

DCO Tufail added that the Head Marala police handed over the body to local senior officials of Punjab Rangers.

INVESTMENT: Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif claimed Pakistan had become an attractive and ideal destination for foreign investment due to the “positive and successful economic policies” of the government and that Pakistan was seeking more Chinese investment after the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

He said this while talking to various delegations here on Sunday. He claimed the economy was strengthening by the day, and the PML-N government had ensured economical and political stability in the country by handling internal and external dangers.

He claimed the electricity shortfall had reduced by 50pc to around 3,500 megawatts from 6,000MW.

Later, talking to the media, Asif said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone of the mega project of Sialkot-Lahore motorway during his visit to the city on Aug 9.

He said the Punjab government had allotted 50 acres each for the campuses of Govt College Women University and Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College here along the main Sialkot-Eimanabad road.

He further said the Sialkot district jail would be shifted to the outskirts of the city soon after which the jail building would be given to the adjacent Govt College Women University.
