KARACHI: Unknown pedigree bay mare Sun Shine stretched her winning run as favourites swept a four-race card of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

In a repeat performance, rider Sohail Ahmed piloted the mare to a three-length victory to the delight of punters.

Owned by M. Iqbal and trained by Abid Ali Jan, the filly got the better of debutant bay horse Shadman in the opener that featured 12 horses.

Filly Duran Duran was placed third, seven-and-a-half lengths behind while mare Delta Queen completed the board further beaten by two-lengths-and-a-half.

Another unknown pedigree bay colt Fantastic Game also made it two victories on the trot when he edged co-favourite colt King’s Hand by neck in a well fought next race.

The victorious colt repeated his feat under rider M. Manzoor who piloted him home in the last outing also on July 10 in the same scale order V, VI and VII run over four-and-a-half furlongs.

Mare Hooram and filly Sonia Again occupied the next two places on the board respectively.

Fancied three-year-old bay colt Leading Star and four-year-old chestnut filly Tiggy Wiggy made their mark presenting co-owners and the trainer with a back-to-back double.

The former, who made a winning debut in the last run, was home by three-quarter-of-a-length to win the third and supporting race as Snow Queen and Lacoste placed third and fourth respectively.

The latter, whose hat-trick was interrupted by So What in the Eid Milan Cup, returned to winning ways with a splendid 14 lengths victory over filly Rainbow.

Rider Essa, who rode the Tiggy Wiggy in the cup races, made amends by guiding her to a magnificent triumph.

Co-owned by Zainab Ali and Aariz Nawaz, Leading Star and Tiggy Wiggy were sent by trainer M. Sharif.
