SAHIWAL: Twelve children suffered burn injuries when a gas cylinder used to fill balloons exploded in Mohalla Faridabad, Pakpattan on Friday afternoon.

Rescue 1122 personnel said 12 children were shifted to the burns unit of the DHQ Hospital for treatment.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Yousaf rushed to the hospital and ensured proper medical arrangements for the children. Doctors were called to the emergency and burns unit.

City police arrested balloon seller and seized his pushcart. Witnesses said parents of most of the children were at a wedding taking place nearby when the explosion occurred. Early investigation called it an accident.

The injured children were identified as Irfan, 7, his brother Arsalan, 5, Shahzad, 9, Amina, 6, Zohaib, 10, Jawariya, 6, Abdul Ghani, 10, Zeeshan, 6, Abid, 11, Ali Hasan, 11, Arsalan, 9, and Bakhtawar, 12.
