KARACHI: A woman was booked for killing a teenage male house servant in Malir Cantonment, officials said on Friday.

According to Airport DSP Iftikhar Lodhi, the murder case was registered against Anila on a complaint of Ali Mohammed, a brother of the victim, Hanif Abdullah.

The DSP said a medico-legal officer at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in his initial post-mortem report had stated that there were “multiple injuries” on the victim’s body. However, the report was reserved to ascertain the exact cause of the death.

The police said that Hanif, around 15, was playing with a minor son of Anila in their home inside Malir Cantt on July 19 when the boy fell from his hands and sustained minor injuries. The incident infuriated the woman who severely beat up the servant with a hard and blunt weapon.

The servant was admitted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment the same day. However, he was discharged after first medical aid. On July 21 his condition deteriorated, prompting his relatives to shift him to the JPMC, where he died during treatment on Thursday.

The DSP said the suspect, Anila, fled her rented home on Thursday at around 10am. She was living there with her family.

The police officer said an intelligence agency was also helping the police to arrest the suspect and that the owner of the house had also been questioned by agency personnel.

The victim originally hailed from Mirpurkhas, where he was buried on Friday.
