NEW DELHI: The Lodha panel committee has asked the Indian cricket board (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke to appear in person and discuss the ways to implement its recommendations. According to BCCI sources, the panel is expected to conduct the meeting on August 9 in Delhi and discuss the way forward to execute all reforms, following the Supreme Court’s verdict.

“This is not going to be a negotiating platform. The panel will prepare a road map for the board and help them understand how to implement the reforms,” a source told the Times of India on Friday.

With the Supreme Court having allotted the BCCI six months’ time, the panel has also told the board in writing to put their election process on hold till “further directions”. Its extent can be imagined by the fact that provided the Lodha committee requires more than two months putting together a new system, it may also result in the BCCI Annual General Body meet (AGM) being postponed to September end.

“Make no mistake that the Lodha panel is in favour of new people coming in and administering the game. Everyone should be given a chance to be a part of the cricket administration,” another source said when asked if the cooling-off period for BCCI bigwigs could be negotiated with the panel at some stage.

Meanwhile, BCCI may also call for Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss the repercussion of the Lodha panel’s reform.

It was also learnt that the BCCI state-affiliated units have also been officially told to not conduct elections till the time further directions are given to amend their constitution.
