Malala and her family are now millionaires, claims a new report

The teenager, who was shot in the head by the Taliban, has earned over £2 million from best-selling book and lectures
Updated 30 Jun, 2016

Nobel Prize winning activist Malala Yousufzai is now a 'millionaire,' according to a British website.

The Daily Mail has stated that the company Salarzai Ltd., which was set up to protect the rights to Malala's life story, has made a pre-tax profit of £1.1 million.

Malala and her parents are joint shareholders of the company and reportedly had £2.2 million in the bank by last August.

Salarzai, which was created in 2013, is a separate operation to the charitable Malala Fund which aims to help girls safely complete secondary education worldwide.

Her book 'I Am Malala,' has sold over 1.8 million copies worldwide since it was published three years ago; The memoir, which tells the story of her formative years growing up in Pakistan, also made her £2 million richer.

When Malala was ten, the Taliban became vocal about forbidding girls from attending school in the Swat District, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Against a backdrop of gunfire, she spoke out against their diktat and was shot on her school bus on the way home in 2012.

Against all odds, she survived and now resides in Britain with her family, where she attends the private Edgbaston High School for Girls.

Or should I say, if you were successful in your own right, -- without any benefit from your child, will you be walking around looking depressed with a long face??

Why the APS kids weren't given this Nobel prize? They all were of her age in fact some of them were very young..... and the biggest thing is, they are till going in the same school where they faced such horrible thing! Weren't they all 10 years old or even younger? they saw something MALALA didn't, blood of your friends and teachers on your face, your hands in their blood pool, your memories filled with nothing but trauma. They are more worthy of a Noble prize and this popularity!

I recently saw her speaking in a vigil in trafalgar square in London for a British politician Jo Cox who was killed couple of weeks ago. her speech was brilliant no matter who wrote it. she is brilliant speaker. very humble. very conscious of her roots. and yes humorous person. instead of being jealous people should learn to appreciate. she is not taking anything from anyone just giving. she can't even spy. she is poster girl for women rights, human rights and girl education no matter who sponsor her. what is wrong with that? did she ever say anything negative about Pakistan no. did she condemn taliban yes.

Haters lay off! Well deserved and all good for Malala and her family. She wrote a book about her misfortune and Allah has given them some of His bounties for the pain and suffering the entire family went through. Disgusting to see people talk ill of the girl and her family. Had any single one of you critics been in her boat, you would have done the same and more. The famous pastime of Pakistanis, i.e. hypocrisy, at its best!

There are scores of extraordinary Pakistani kids who blog online, write diaries in publications and appear on TV. Then why was Malala the only selected candidate? There are several reasons for this. Most importantly, Malala had gradually been groomed into an icon of young, female resistance against tyranny and oppression in her fight for the right to education. Secondly, she garnered great influence as she was routinely invited by a variety of senior government, military, diplomatic and HR officials especially the US. If you do a bit of research you would discover, that in Pakistan at the primary level enrollment of girls far exceed the boy's and that Pakistani boys and girl students have not only topped but broken world records in "A" and "O" level exams.Yes our literacy rate needs to improve.

It is very normal in western countries, This is what famous people do to earn their livelihood.
