ISLAMABAD: Seven members of a family received burn injuries after a fire erupted in a house due to gas explosion here on Monday, police said.

The incident took place at the residence of Farid Gul, a naib qasid at NAB, in G-9/2 at Sehri, they added.

According to police, at night the gas pressure was low and the family members went to sleep without turning off the stove, the police said, adding later the wife woke up at Sehr and attached an LPG gas cylinder with stove since gas pressure was still low to prepare meal.

The kitchen caught fire as soon as his wife lit a match stick to burn the stove, they said, adding shortly the fire spread quickly as the gas had filled the house.

Neighbours called the police and rescue workers, including firefighters to extinguish the fire and rescue the victims.

The rescue workers extinguish the fire and shifted the family members to hospital for medical assistance.

Farid Gul, 50, and his wife Zarifa Bibi, 45, suffered 100 and 90pc burn injuries, the police said, adding that their condition was stated to be serious and they were kept in the hospital.

Gul’s sister-in-law Saima Salman, 20, and son Zohaib Hassn suffered 40 and 25pc burn injuries, they said, adding that their condition was stated out of danger but kept in the hospital.

Gul’s son Mohammad Ismail, 16, Mohammad Zeeshan, 17, and Mohammad Salman, 21, suffered 8pc burn injures each, they said, adding that after giving them medical treatment they were relieved from the hospital.
