WHAT a paradox and the twist of fate! Those who were supposed to deliver justice to the ordinary mortals are now craving for justice for themselves. There is no trace as yet of the whereabouts of Awais Ali Shah and law-enforcers are clueless.
While the matter has received attention from the highest level, the government is reported to be working overtime to trace the culprits. Even the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court could not resist staying put and came out with a statement asking the agencies concerned for fool-proof security of the judges and their families. Many dignitaries have visited the SHC CJ to share their concern and anguish and extending assurance of the efforts to recover his kidnapped son.
But why should one be surprised at the kidnapping or the brazen killing of Amjad Sabri? Political compromises have been the hallmark of Rangers-backed operation which has been restricted to Karachi instead of the whole of Sindh. Many militants in Karachi have fled to the interior of Sindh and are operating from safe havens there. Punjab remains a no-go area for paramilitary operation. Those who should be in jail are running the government and sitting in parliament. The menace of corruption, which has a close nexus with terrorism, remains unaddressed.
