ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to inquire about his health. He expressed good wishes for the early recovery of Mr Sharif’s health and prayed for the success of his open-heart surgery scheduled for Tuesday in London.

According to a president’s spokesman, Mr Hussain informed the prime minister that the whole nation was praying for his complete recovery.

Mr Sharif expressed gratitude to the nation for praying for his good health and the success of his operation. He also prayed for security and prosperity of the country.

The spokesman said the prime minister thanked the president for inquiring about his health and apprised him about his ongoing medical treatment.

In a separate statement issued from the presidency, the spokesman rejected media reports about health of Mr Hussain. He termed all such news as baseless and said the president was in good health and performing his duties.

He said there was no truth in all such reports that the president had undergone medical treatment in a hospital recently.
