KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Abdul Sattar Edhi is a superman who has served humanity selflessly.
“He is an international personality and his services are beyond the borders of nationality, religion or sectarian identity as he rushes wherever he feels people are in pain and problems,” he said while talking to the media on Sunday.
The CM with his family reached the Kharadar residence of Abdul Sattar Edhi to inquire after his health. Bilqees Edhi and Faisal Edhi received him, his wife and daughters.
He took serious notice of heaps of garbage along the road and streets in Kharadar and ordered Chief Secretary Siddique Memon to suspend a low-ranking official of the district municipal corporation-South for failing to perform his duties properly.
The chief minister and his wife gave a bouquet of flowers and prayed for his long life.
The CM said that people like Mr Edhi were born in centuries. He was the identity of Pakistan. “May God give him good health and I know the prayers of the whole nation are with him,” he said.
Pointing towards Faisal Edhi, the CM said: “He is a fortunate person that he is born at Abdul Sattar Edhi.”
“This is something very encouraging that Almighty Allah has bestowed Pakistan, particularly Sindh, with a great man like Abdul Sattar Edhi and also filled the same love in the hearts of his family members, wife and sons, which flourish in his heart and soul,” he said.
In reply to a question, the CM said that leaving aside the political differences Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the elected prime minister of the country and “may God give him good health and early recovery so that he can return to Pakistan soon”.
He said that there was no provision of two prime ministers in the Constitution. “There will be only one prime minister whether he is in the country or goes abroad for visits or medical treatment.”
Meanwhile, the CM ordered the Karachi commissioner to take action against the administration of a superstore in Gulshan-i-Iqbal for grabbing government land to construct a car parking illegally.
He said that no one could be allowed to grab government land and to hinder traffic.
“How it is possible for a person or private company to illegally occupy greenbelt, portions of storm-water drains when the owner of the land is very much present in the city,” he asked.
