LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) retired Capt Amin Wains says the station house officers (SHOs) failing to control crime in their areas will be expelled or transferred from the city police to other districts.
He warned the SHOs that strict action would be taken against those found running private torture cells.
The CCPO was addressing a meeting of SHOs at Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Saturday.
He said special vigilance teams were being constituted to raid police stations to monitor daily routine and public dealing by SHOs. Strict departmental action would be proposed against those police officers who failed to bring down the crime graph in their areas, he added.
The CCPO directed SHOs to arrest proclaimed offenders and A-category criminals. All banks administrations would be approached and directed to install vantage points on their buildings for security and if any bank branch failed to follow the instruction, they would be closed, he added.
Mr Wains reprimanded Township Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umar Farooq and 10 SHOs and investigation in charges of Ichhra, Hadiyara, Nawab Town, Hanjarwal, Green Town and Nishtar Colony for failing to control gambling and prostitution dens in their areas.
He also directed the SHOs and in charges of investigation to held performance meetings with their subordinates and its pictures should be sent to him and deputy inspector general’s (DIG) offices.
DIG Haider Ashraf said that SHOs should personally visit mosques and imambargahs to constitute a security plan. Search operations and patrolling should be carried out in and around the religious places and bazaars prior to Ramazan to ensure foolproof security, he added.
Investigation DIG Sultan Chaudhry, City Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, divisional superintendent of police of operation and investigation and SHOs were present.
