Wife-beating

Published May 29, 2016

APROPOS the news ‘CII justifies light beating for errant wives’ (May 27). I would like the CII Chairman Maulana Mohammad Khan Sheerani to answer the following questions. 1)Could he please tell us whether the same light beating is allowed for errant husbands? 2) Can he tell us with what and on which part, should the wife receive a beating?

Maulana Sheerani should remember that he is living in the 21st century, not the 7th century about which he is dreaming.

A MUSLIM gets guidance from the Quran and the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) Sunnah and not from some self-appointed guardians of Islam.

That is why a true Muslim will never beat his wife; if he really loves the Prophet (PBUH) and follows his Sunnah. For the simple reason that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) never, ever, even raised his voice on any of his wives, much less, raising his hand. So, following the Holy Prophet (PBUH), a Muslim will never hit his wife.

That is the way of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and those who love the Holy Prophet get their guidance from him.
