LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has constituted the Provincial Steering Committee for BoM of the autonomous medical institutions including tertiary care and specialised healthcare for recommending names of members of the boards to the competent authority and monitoring the performance of these boards.

The first meeting of the steering committee was held in the committee room of the Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education at Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, says a handout.

Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah said the main purpose of setting up the committee was to constitute effective and vibrant boards of management for the autonomous tertiary healthcare hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions.

He said the committee would present recommendations for the members of boards to the government and also monitor their performance on a regular basis.

He said the main objective of this exercise was to address administrative issues to improve performance of tertiary care hospitals and resolve the problems faced by the doctors/students of the medical colleges.
