Angelina Jolie-Pitt: Oscar winning actress, film-maker, humanitarian, and now... a professor?

Angelina Jolie-Pitt has added yet another skill in her long long list of abilities. The star will be joining former foreign state secretary William Hague as a visiting professor at one of Britain's most prestigious universities, the London School of Economics (LSE). She will be a lecturer at the Master's programme at university's Centre for Women, Peace and Security.

Jolie-Pitt, who has been a goodwill ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency and is currently one of its special envoys, has been a vocal campaigner on refugee rights, and against female genital mutilation and the use of rape as a weapon of war.

About this opportunity, she said: "I am very encouraged by the creation of this Master's programme. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women's rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict."

Jolie-Pitt has been a goodwill ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. She is one of the angecy's special envoys and has been a vocal campaigner on refugee rights and against female genital mutilation and rape as a weapon of war.

"I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations". She adds.

Angelina Jolie-Pitt has already achieved Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, at the 2013 Governors Awards, for all her work.

Lord Hague, who has already worked with Angelina Jolie-Pitt during a summit on sexual violence before, is delighted to be appointed and says "This course will help underpin our work in preventing sexual violence in conflict, developing expertise and research to assist us in tackling the culture of impunity. I look forward to working with the LSE students and my fellow visiting professors."

Angelina Jolie-Pitt's one year course will include modules on Women, Peace and Security, Gender and Militarization and Gender and Human Rights.

What a joke! Selling her body for the movies and then masquerading as 'goodwill whatever'...is this the barometer to what one should measure, especially when it comes to education...i think the LSE has lost its marbles!

To be honest with you, I wish you would bring some stuffed parathas and make her eat and put on weight. Like millions of women she is skinny if not anereroxic in their passion to be thin. She is a good woman all right but to under weight for an attractive woman!

@asgher LSE actually lost its marbles, when it (allegedly) admitted a one A A. Zardari as a student. Or was it LES, as that former (alleged) graduate recalls??

@Arsalan Do you even have the slightest idea how much work she has done for the impoverished? If a person of her stature is bad in your books, I can only imagine how dark and hopeless this world must seem to you.

@Arsalan - "Selling her body for the movies..." Are you serious? Is that all you think actors do - sell bodies? You need your head examined. She underwent double mastectomy due to breast cancer scare and still continues to do wonderful work - that is admirable!

I am a fan of Angelina. She is doing nice work for humanitarian projects. She has so much money and famous just like other stars but she decides to do something positive for good projects, not too many people like her do. Whether she is a good teacher or not, remains to be seen but to me she is a nice human being.

Its a sales pitch. LSE wants students to pay top euros for the course, so this is a very good idea to get the students to loosen their purses. Just a brainfart, ignore this... Yawn...

The fact that she is big movie star does not diminish the value of work she is doing. I can't find any ulterior motive for her taking up this work. What other movie stars are spending their time in visiting refugees everywhere and spending time on the cause. Due to her work, she has direct experience of the topic she is teaching at the University. The fact that she "sold her body for the movies" is irrelevant. So let's not put her good work down just because some of us don't agree with what she did as a movie star.

@Arsalan Angelina's work for refugees is recognised across the world. Apart from being a great actress she is a humanitarian par excellence and she didn't need to do this for money or fame. She already makes millions from movies and is already famous. She doesn't need to prove anything to people like you who do not have any achievement in life other then questioning other people's morals. And BTW - she does not SELL her body for movies. Their movies are representative of their culture which is different then ours. Many of our women do not cover their faces - they for someone like you sitting in Afghanistan or Yemen maybe equivalent to what you think of Angelina
