KASUR: A revenue patwari was sacked and three other revenue officials were suspended from service for transferring 128 state kanals to private people.

A handout says Kasur Assistant Commissioner Shah Rukh Niazi sacked Patwari Arshad Jamal for transferring the state land meant for a cattle market to occupants. The handout did not disclose the occupants.

Mr Niazi sent the case to the commissioner.

The handout says Tehsildar Abdul Rauf, Patwari Sajjad Ahmed and Girdawar Muhammad Yaseen have also been suspended for corruption. The senior member of the Board of Revenue has also ordered an action under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act of 2006 against the officials.

The handout says Patwari Sajjad Ahmed was already booked in five cases with the Anti-Corruption Establishment while 14 inquiries have been on into the affairs of Patwari Ahmed.

ARRESTS: Phoolnagar Police arrested on Monday eight people, including two proclaimed offenders, in a search and sweep operation under the National Action Plan.

A heavy contingent of police conducted a search operation at villages Bhagiana Kalan, Kanreen Malia and Mia Kay Mor, and arrested eight people there. Police seized illicit weapons as well.
