KARACHI: At least five students were injured in a clash between two religious groups in Karachi University over what was described by officials as a ‘trivial’ issue on Friday.
Gulshan SP Dr Fahad Ahmed told Dawn that some activists belonging to the Imamia Students Organisation, including girls, were studying at an open space where activists belonging to the Islami Jamiat-i-Talaba came and raised ‘objections’ over it.
After exchange of hot words, a scuffle broke out between them in which clubs and wooden sticks were used resulting injuries to five students belonging to the both groups. They were taken to different hospitals for treatment.
The Gulshan SP added that legal action would be taken after medical reports, but so far, no one had been detained.
