Afghanistan ready to release Inzamam ‘if Pakistan need him’

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chief Shafiq Stanikzai has put to rest all speculation regarding Inzamam-ul-Haq’s future as their national team coach by announcing that his board is ready to release him if he’s required by Pakistan.
The former batsman has been tipped to take charge as the Pakistan chief selector, however, there has been no indication from Inzamam himself.
"Today Shaharyar Khan called me and asked a favour to release Inzamam-ul-Haq as they are keen to hire him," Stanikzai said while talking to ESPNCricinfo.
The developments follow former Pakistan coach Waqar Younis’ argument in favour of Inzamam.
“Hearing Inzamam coming as chief selector. V good news. Glad PCB now listening to my 2015 recommendations. #BetterLateThanNever,” Waqar tweeted.
Inzamam joined the Afghanistan team as head-coach for their tour to Zimbabwe in 2015.
The Multan-born cricketer got a contract extension after his team’s ODI and T20 series triumph against the full member Zimbabwe side.
Under Inzamam, Afghanistan recorded their famous win against West Indies at the recently concluded World T20.
The ACB chief they were willing to let go of their successful coach because Afghans were 'patriotic' people.
"Although he was in contract with us until December this year, we are patriotic people and if Pakistan needs Inzamam for their own country, we are ready to release him,” he said.
“We are looking at the contract right now with all the terms and conditions but we are not going to drag this and rather finish this on good and high note."
Before the Afghanistan job, Inzamam’s last coaching stint at the international level was as Pakistan’s batting consultant in 2012-13.

Sound and look Good. We need Young Selectors and Coaches. If he can make Afghan Team a better Team and Players. Pakistan Team should do good. I think he will be fair for selecting the right Player for the Job.

Mr. Sharyar this is not justify that we should ask AFG to release Inzi he have contact till 2017 let he should work our brotherly county AFG. Also Inzi should not sign and complete his morally contract with AFG.

He will be a total disaster for Pakistan Cricket - especially in 20-20 format. He could barely play in the 50 over game and now someone has decided he is "FIT" enough to be the chief Pakistani selector.

A guy who could not groom a single batsmen under his captaincy for 5 odd years or even spot a talent from the camps let alone will now be a chief selector? Remember how imran brought talent to the team that contributed to Pakistan cricket years after he left? What did Inzi contributed to Pak cricket after he left? He created a vaccum that's still there. We were never able to produce saeed anwar and mohamad yousef kind of talent . OuR cricket will continue to suffer untill we are not ready to say goodbye to all these veterans that are sucking Pakistsan cricket blood like leeches. It's time
Pakistan should adapt new strategy and invest in new blood.

he won't be successful chief selecter the reason is the big fish remain on upper tier to martyrs him and his credibility after couple of years and with his down to earth humble nature he won't be able to dictate his decision as chief selector with the kind of dirty politics involved in PCB, I'd suggest him to continue as national coach of Afghanistan cricket team.

@Hakeem I think he helped in grooming Younus khan, but that is another debate, but the likes of Inzamam inclusion when there remain the dirty people and politics on top of PCB will not change any structural betterment will not give anything in long run. Now it's time to plan for future of Hockey cricket and invest on basics of the level club cricket domestic cricket which are the nurseries and then talent hunt will come later instead of spending money on useless show peace events like PSL, its just complete waste of money and time.I suggest Majid Khan should be on the top position for next five years in PCB at least with free hand and resources with no political interference could only bring our sports state of affairs to some respectable position from here.

This is a wrong step to make Izmam coach. He can only do coaching about Tableigh. Mohsin Khan would have been best choice but PCN highup wants someone like them. Izmam will fail. Guaranteed.!

The 92 wc hero is a good choice but I believe waqar wasn't bad either. Point is pakistan cricket need institutional changes which only political leadership can do which unfortunately doesnt exist in present Pmln government. .

I feel happy if our Afghan brothers prosper in cricket because if they grow its our pride because its Peshawer refugees camps which have brought them here where they stand todat ( better than Scotland, Holand and Ireland etc), Let Inzi complete this job,
When it comes to our 11, let Waqar continue and bring Sir Viv in picture. We have enough talent to climb up. I requrest Dawn not to snub my honest opinion. please post it. God bless Pakistan and Afghanisan

A disaster waiting to happen. He has a very unique personality. Unique in a bad way. He comes across as a very religious person but willing to break his contract with ACB. It tells me that it's all about money. They will do anything to make money. His name was mentioned in justice Qayyum report. In urdu "so chohey ka ky billi haj ko challi"

Rashid Latif would be a better choice for the chief selectors post. Inzimam is too set in his ways with tunnel vision. Any young cricketer who doesn't conform to his ways can say bye bye to his career.

Inzi has no credentials for a chief selector. IBM Watson should be picked to assess the performance based on numbers and identify the best of the bunch. Sadly, Inzi is another band-aid in a broken system.
