Where are Trudeau's biggest (non-Canadian) fans? In Karachi, mostly

Karachi is the only non-Canadian city among the top 8 housing Justin Trudeau's Facebook followers
12 Apr, 2016

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is celebrating 2 million likes on his Facebook page today - and an interesting fact has come to light.

According to a video uploaded on Trudeau's Facebook page, the greatest number of his non-Canadian followers hail from one Pakistani city, Karachi.

Are we surprised? Not really.

Here's some reasons why Karachi thinks he's the best:

1) He gets multiculturalism the way leaders of a diverse city like Karachi ought to

Exhibit A:

Trudeau celebrated Vaisakhi or the Punjabi new year with the Sikh community of Canada

Exhibit B:

2) He showed our politicians how photo ops are actually done

They don't work unless you're sincere about the cause.

Trudeau was present at the Toronto airport when the first batch of Syrian refugees were due to arrive in December last year. He stuck around to not only personally welcome them, but also make them really feel at home.

This photo op seemed more genuine and heartfelt than the standard political fare:

The incoming refugees were warmly greeted by Trudeau

The littlest of refugees even got a tickle

And he made sure their winter coats will be just right

3) Like many Karachiites, he's equal parts fierce and gentle

He's into boxing...

..and also a baby panda enthusiast!

No wonder, he's so "level-headed"":

4) He totally rocks the desi look

Here he is with his wife Sophie at Toronto International Film Festival, 2012

And he throws a mean bhangra:

He should just be one of us.

True leader who wants to look after minorities in his country and understand their problems... And wants to solve his country issue instead of interfearing other country matters.

Karachi be labeled as sister city to Toronto. We need young vibrant leaders in Karachi who represent the true Karachi. The leaders running Karachi can easily be placed. Karachi was like Canada in seventies even had a nuclear plant run by Canada in sixties. Protection for minorities, open society, multiculturalism, progressive, liberal are the ideals of the people of Karachi; Karachi is not one city, its people are all over world and making this world a better place, Canada is their second home so is USA.

He is what he is : Just & True. Nothing affectations, no ostentation; nothing put on for scoring points. His lat father (wherever he is) has every right to be proud of his son. Genuine example of humanity at its best. We might be having the one and only politician in the world today who subsists on truth and can't tell a lie.

We dream of a leader like him who can take our country to places. Our country and the people of our country has tremendous potential ..We are politically starved n deprived from genuine, honest , fair minded leaders who will roam the street and be among the people to understand their problems. We are plain envious of Canadian brothers and sisters. ...you are one lucky nation yo have such a Prime minister!

we (as Muslim Canadians) were looking for someone like him for long time. He is the wonderful son of a wonderful father - Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau. His father served as the 15th Prime Minister of Canada from April 20, 1968, to June 4, 1979 who is considered the Father of Modern Canada.

Well I must say, the day he comes in power, he is really making all his promises true. whether it is tax cuts and more benefits for middle class families, health facilities, introducing great economic policies, zero tolerance on discrimination and much more. He just delivering from front such that giving great impression toward all communities, living here in Canada. Thumbs up for Trudeau, perhaps Pak politician could learn a bit, how he is determine for public interest and not his personal interest.

Even Justin Trudeau's cabinet is very representative of the Canadian population - some of the ministers are English-speaking, others are Francophone, there are native (aboriginal/first-nations) people and members of other communities, such as Indian/Sikh. Yet all are Canadian. Justin Trudeau has also spoken out on behalf of the first nations people who have endured a tremendous amount of suffering and humiliation since the arrival of white settlers over two centuries ago. Canada can serve as a model for Pakistan.
