HYDERABAD: Seven people, including two women, died after consuming spurious liquor in Karimabad colony of Tando Mohammad Khan on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Hona, Allah Dino, Papu, Baru, Kanji, Shabnam and Nasho.

Some bodies were taken to private hospitals and handed over to heirs without post-mortem.

Pyar Khaskheli, Ram Chand, Ashok, Bhalu Kolhi and Faqiro had fainted. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Heirs of the deceased staged a demonstration on Hyderabad-Tando Mohammad Khan road along with the bodies, raising slogans against police.

They said that liquor was openly prepared in the colony, but police didn’t take any action. They demanded arrests of culprits involved in the sale and manufacturing of toxic liquor.

Sindh Inspector General of Police A. D. Khawaja took notice of the incident, ordered suspension of SHO city Qadir Bux Bahrani and asked Tando Mohammad Khan DSP Khalid Rustamani to hold an inquiry into the incident.

Sindh Excise Minister Gyanchand Esrani has asked Hyderabad DIG Khadim Rind to submit a report.
