LAHORE: A group of Punjab University teachers, who had been protesting outside the Punjab Assembly for a couple of weeks against the appointment of Dr Mujahid Kamran as interim vice chancellor of the varsity, has ended their protest to participate in the election of the Academic Staff Association (ASA).

“If the Punjab government fails to remove the interim VC, we will be back on the roads after the ASA elections scheduled to be held on March 10,” PU Law College faculty member Samee Uzair said in a statement here on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the PU Teachers’ Front on Wednesday announced its panel for the election. Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad has been nominated for the slot of president, Dr Abid Hussain (vice president -- arts), Dr Muhammad Azhar Naeem (vice president -- science), Dr Mahboob Hussain (secretary), Dr Muhammad Shafique (joint secretary) and Naeemullah Khan (treasurer).
