KARACHI: The fire that broke out in an oil terminal operated by the Pakistan State Oil in the Keamari area on Thursday was controlled after a two-hour firefighting operation, officials said.
The cause of the fire remained unknown, said the Karachi Port Trust fire tender unit spokesman. But, he added, three fire tenders controlled the blaze after over two hours.
“There will obviously be some financial losses, but since it was a place vulnerable to fire and flame, no such damage was witnessed that could have turned deadly,” he said.
“The fire broke out at terminal B of the PSO.”
He said that the fire actually erupted in two vehicles and it was controlled before it could spread to other places.
Meanwhile, he added, all the tankers were moved away from the oil terminal and the entry of other vehicles was stopped till the completion of the firefighting operation.
