KARACHI: Two young labourers died while working on a part of the Green Line bus project in North Nazimabad on Wednesday, officials said.
They added that the labourers, identified as Yaseen and Azeem, belonging to a private contractor, were shifting a water pipeline near the Nagan Chowrangi traffic intersection as it hindered the project. Besides, they were trying to install a steel pipeline to replace a cemented one. They were welding two pipes together when a thick piece of mud fell on them. By the time rescuers removed the mud, they had died.
Tamuria police SHO Irfan Ahmed said it was an “incident” and the family did not want to pursue the case legally as the victims were relatives of the contractor also.
