KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Wednesday expressed its concern over ‘great deficiencies’ in security arrangements at educational institutions and urged school authorities to implement a comprehensive security plan.

CPLC chief Zubair Habib visited the Montessori, primary, secondary and higher secondary branches of a school in PECHS with some CPLC office-bearers and examined the security steps taken by the school management. The CPLC team briefed them on steps needed to prevent or minimise losses/casualties in case of any terror act.

During the visit, the team observed “great deficiencies in terms of security measures and pointed out the same to the security staff and emphasised the need to increase the height of the boundary walls, installation of CCTV surveillance cameras, placement of guards at critical spots, especially at the entrance and exit points, development of cordoned off areas for parents and visitors, installation of iron gates at critical junctions with safety and awareness drills for staff and students,” the CPLC spokesperson said.
