PESHAWAR: The sports and youth affairs department organised in Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday the first of a series of the ‘Hum Jawan Youth Cultural Festival, 2016’.

The festival will also be held in Swat on Feb 11, Mardan Feb 15 and Peshawar Feb 17, respectively.

According to a statement issued here, a large number of students of various educational institutions and youth took part in a music audition, a cultural dance, a photography session, a stage drama and other performing arts, which mesmerised the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, director general sports Rasheeda Ghaznavi said organising such events was meant to provide the youth with opportunities at local and national levels to nourish their talent and engage them in healthy activities.

She said the grand finale among the artistes picked at the district level would be held in the provincial metropolis by current month end. The official said the successful artistes would be given prizes and shields to encourage them.
