KHAR: Ban on entry of non-custom paid (NCP) vehicles into the Lower Dir district from Bajaur Agency has been lifted after several months.
Transporters told Dawn here on Tuesday that the district administration of Lower Dir had lifted the ban on entry of NCP vehicles into its territory from Bajaur Agency. “We don’t know the reasons of lifting the ban but all kinds of NCP vehicles from the agency are entering Lower Dir without any trouble,” a transporter said.
PML-N workers claimed the ban was lifted because of the efforts of party MNA Shahabuddin Khan.
Meanwhile, the Bajaur political administration confirmed the lifting of ban on entry of NCP vehicles into the Lower Dir district.
An official told Dawn on Tuesday the step to withdraw the ban was taken after meetings between officials from both the regions.
The official rejected the claims that some political leader of the agency had played role in lifting the ban.
It’s to be mentioned here that the Lower Dir administration had imposed ban on entry of NCP vehicles in its territory from Bajaur Agency in July 2015 over unspecified reasons.
