Safety of students

Published February 9, 2016

THIS refers to your editorial ‘Safety of students’ (Feb 3). Educational institutions’ closure is no solution to terrorism. The attacks at APS, Peshawar, and the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda should be an eye-opener for the authorities. They must take steps for the protection of youngsters.

Being a student of a renowned engineering institute in Topi, Swabi, which is located near Fata, I am concerned about security. These terrible incidents have developed fear in our minds. Students should be fear-free and focus on their education.

The situation is worse for parents. They are the ones who suffer the most in case of an ugly incident. Unfortunately, there are no signs that things will improve. In fact, every day we hear about some terrorist attack.

As a student, I demand security not only for myself but also for my teachers and institute, which is dedicated to education. I suggest that training on how to act in an emergency situation should be provided to students and teachers.
