LANDI KOTAL: Security forces on Sunday claimed to have arrested a wanted militant during a raid on a house in Sakhi Pul area of Jamrud.

Officials said Farman was involved in a number of incidents of sabotage and attacks on security forces in different parts of the tehsil.

They said forces were on the lookout for his arrest and raided a house in Sakhi Pul after receiving credible information about his presence there. The personnel also recovered some weapons during the raid. The arrested militant was later shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Meanwhile, six persons, including a child, were injured when two speeding cars collided head-on on the main Peshawar-Torkham road near Prang Sam area on Sunday. Three injured men were shifted to Landi Kotal hospital while the remaining three whose condition was stated to be critical were referred to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.

Also in the day, the political administration initiated an anti-encroachment drive in order to remove all illegal structures from the Landi Kotal Bazaar.

Assistant Political Agent Nasir Khan directed the Khasadar and Levies personnel to remove all hand-carts and push-carts from the road passing through the main bazaar along with serving notices on shopkeepers to voluntarily dismantle all cabins, kiosks and cemented structures from outside their shops.

It is worth mentioning that increasing number of hand-carts and push-carts have hampered the flow of traffic through the Landi Kotal Bazaar, while illegal cabins and kiosks affected movement of pedestrians.

Officials said the anti-encroachment drive was initiated after the administration received a number of complaints from the local people.
