RAWALPINDI: A man was shot dead apparently over a land dispute in Sadiqabad police area on Saturday.

According to police, Mohammad Ashraq, 35, of Kotli Sattian and three persons were discussing a land dispute. Later, their discussion turned into a heated argument, during which a person stood up and took out his pistol and opened fire on Ashraq killing him on the spot. The shooting created panic in the market.

Rescue 1122 shifted the body to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for autopsy.

SI Mohammad Zubair, who is posted at Sadiqabad Police Station and investigating the murder case, said after committing the crime, the killer managed to escape from the crime scene along with his associates. The name of the killer was yet to be ascertained, the IO said.

A doctor at DHQ, when contacted, said that Ashraq sustained five bullet injuries. Police have not registered a murder case till the filing of this report.
