LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution showing solidarity with the Kashmiris struggling to win their right to decide whether they wish to live with Pakistan or India.

The resolution tabled by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and endorsed by representatives of all opposition parties stated that this august House assures its moral and political support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom.

It also demanded holding of a plebiscite to ascertain opinion of the Kashmiris about their future and called upon the comity of nations to pressurise India for the purpose in the larger interest of regional peace.

At least 12 lawmakers expressed their views on the resolution representing all shades of opinion in the House.

The proceedings held amid low attendance continued for around an hour and were put off for Monday evening soon after adoption of the resolution.
