LAHORE: Five shops were reduced to ashes in a fire which erupted when a gas cylinder exploded in an adjacent shop at Waris Chowk in Green Town here on Friday.

Rescue officials said the cylinder shop exploded with a bang and the fire also engulfed four electronics shops, gutting valuables worth millions of rupees.

Firefighters along with residents and shopkeepers brought the fire under control after about a four-hour struggle.

The loss was being estimated by shopkeepers.
