APROPOS the report ‘Row between medical colleges and PMDC leads to litigation’ (Jan 8).

I am among the doctors who recently graduated from Saidu Medical College, who cannot get employment because of the government’s carelessness.

My college was originally allowed 50 seats by the PMDC, and the intake was raised to 100 in 2007. However, in 2011 the PMDC allowed our college an allocation of 100 seats (the total strength of my class was 93). Roughly, 47 students from my class were unable to get registered as students.

Fast forward to September 2015, a month after our result, when we were first informed about this matter, the PMDC sent a letter to all colleges with an extra students problem, accepting all students admitted before 2015.

Even though this problem was caused by the government’s oversight, and to a certain extent, the respective college administrations’ carelessness, the Rs5,000 late fee was paid by the students from their own pockets. I would like to point out the affect that this delay in registration is having on the students.

My peers who were registered on time, have already started their house job, while we are waiting for four months for the government to sign the required documents. Even after this delay, the chances of us getting our rights seem bleak.
