LAKKI MARWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Ms Zarin Zia has asked the students to equip themselves with quality education to change the lot of the backward district.

She was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of Government Shaheed Behram Ahmad Khan Higher Secondary School in Naurang town on Sunday.

The lawmaker distributed trophies and cash rewards among the players who had won different sports events at the district and provincial level competitions. A volleyball team of the school won the provincial schools tournament while the hockey and badminton teams shined at the district sports festival.

Ms Zia accused her political opponents of inaugurating the uplift schemes she had got approved from the provincial government. She said JUI-F MPA Anwar Hayat Khan couldn’t deceive people by putting his name on the projects approved by her.

“The residents of Naurang town and adjacent localities are politically conscious and cannot be deceived by such tactics,” she added. The PTI MPA assured that she would request the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Parvez Khattak to approve another boys high school in the town. She said work on a new building of the higher secondary school would begin soon. 

TEACHERS’ PROMOTION: All certified teachers association, Lakki chapter, has demanded of the provincial government to fix 20 per cent promotion quota for certified teachers on the posts of subject specialists.

Speaking at a meeting on Sunday, the association’s divisional general secretary Yaseen Khan, vice-president Waheed Murad, press secretary Rehmatullah Khan and others said genuine problems of certified teachers would be brought into the notice of the quarters concerned.

The participants decided to elect new office-bearers of the association at the district level on Jan 24.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yaseen asked the government to upgrade all certified teachers to BPS-16 in the light of a decision of the Peshawar High Court.
