Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui removed as Karachi commissioner

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Monday removed Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui from his post and ordered Hyderabad Division Commissioner Asif Hyder Shah to take the additional charge of the vacant post.
Official sources confirmed that a notification ordering Siddiqui's removal and Shah's appointment has been issued.
Shoaib Siddiqui, who was appointed Karachi commissioner in April 2013, has been ordered to report to the department of Services and General Administration.
Before being appointed as commissioner, Siddiqui was performing duties as additional secretary at Aiwan-e-Saddar. Mr Siddiqui had also served in the KMC, the defunct Karachi Development Authority as well as in the defunct city district government.
The newly appointed Karachi commissioner, Asif Hyder Shah, is reportedly a close relative of provincial finance minister Murad Ali Shah.

One of the most disgraceful step taken by the Dubai dictated Sind Government. Matte of fact, this set-up does not need honest and neutral Officials. All in authority reward and appoint their blue-eyed boys but Karachi is very different. And they will not regret either. The previous set-up was also neither neutral nor efficient but need of the hour is to try to improve situation. 7000 parchi employees of the KMC have been screened. Who were they ?

It seems that ppp led govt could not bear further more the presence of mr shoib because of his honesty and removed him just for the accomplishment of their own desire/aims. MR Hussan nisar prior remarks on media about prevailing democrasy has proven where nepotism always wins against honesty/merit.

By taking such patently biased and prejudiced actions, Sindh government is increasing rather than bridging the void between the urban and rural areas of sindh, two halves which are increasingly at odds with each other. One would have expected that mqm having won the cities resoundingly, the rural dominated government will let them rule with peace and let the injustice of last 7 years of local bodies less years die out. This current action of imposing a non local crony at such a key spot would only push the urban population away from a rapproachment with the rural counterparts.
All eyes are now on mqm to challenge all such blatantly biased steps being taken by the provincial government. For once, the whole urban populace is behind them as proven by recent elections.
