APROPOS the news report( Dec 18) ‘1.6m children out of school in Balochistan’. Education is the basic right of every person . Without it, no one one can distinguish between right and wrong. Education plays a key role in the socialisation of an individual.

Except Quetta, the capital of the province, the remaining areas of the province have no infrastructures for schools and colleges. Where authorities pay any attention to the problem at all, approval for schools is made on a political basis. Political interference can be calculated in the sense that areas where population is equal to nothing have more than one school.

I request the government of Balochistan to take notice of ghost schools that show a high dropout ratio.
