KARACHI: Celebrated humanitarian and Edhi Foundation Chairman Abdul Sattar Edhi is alive and well, contrary to rumours circulating over social media regarding his demise.

The rumour appears to have started when tweets requesting prayers for the well-being of the philanthropist began making the rounds, claiming Edhi had been admitted to a hospital's intensive care unit.

Abdul Hafeez, an Edhi centre in-charge, confirmed Edhi was stable. "He was just in the office and now he has gone to rest," he said.

Anusha Khalid, a volunteer at Faisal Edhi's office, said Abdul Sattar Edhi was "totally normal" and that he was resting.

"This news is totally false. Edhi sahab's condition is normal," she said. "We have been receiving calls enquiring about his condition all morning."
