LAHORE: Students of different institutions invited to a seminar organised by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day were not allowed to leave the venue till the conclusion of speeches of main speakers.

The students, who already suffered a lot due to the late arrival of main guests, faced further agony when they found doors locked purposely.

Addressing the seminar, NAB Lahore Director-General Syed Burhan Ali said it was setting up Character Building Societies (CBS) in educational institutions and at the union council level across the country to build an effective edifice against corruption.

“Special focus is being given to awareness and prevention activities to educate the masses about ill effects of corruption. The youth is the future of Pakistan and the NAB has laid special emphasis on it. Over 10,000 CBS have been formed comprising 150,000 members,” he added.

Governor Rafique Rajwana awarded merit certificates and cash prizes to the position holders of different competitions held by NAB as part of its anti-corruption awareness campaign.

He appreciated the efforts of NAB in creating awareness among the masses against the menace of corruption.

Cheques amounting to Rs26.2 million were distributed among the affectees of different scams.
